Clare Bridge says, “Since 2001, I have been fortunate to participate in a number of diverse fine metal workshops in Maine and Atlantic Canada. They have been instrumental in transitioning from my previous large mixed media, comprised of stained glass, found objects, rusted metals, etc., into one-of-a-kind wearable art. One such workshop with Tim McCreight; an internationally renowned metalsmith at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine, confirmed for me, the exciting direction of my work. The introduction of creating in fine metals enhanced my ability to develop a plethora of innovative shapes and forms.”
New Brunswick’s dramatic shorelines and diverse woodlands have continuously inspired her one-of-a-kind jewellery, offering a cornucopia of textures and designs that she weave into her pieces through forging, fusing and casting (sterling silver, red brass, bronze, white bronze, yellow brass and copper). The detailed textures of lichen to the sea’s elegantly eroded shells, embody examples of the natural elements that infuse her work.
