“Sunday Drive. The term evokes memories of an unrushed, pleasant jaunt about town to see what's new, what's changed and what stayed the same. The Sunday drive had a way of nudging out stories from the recent week or from years past. The paintings in this collection were either painted plein air or are studio pieces inspired from a plein air study created during an excursion around the Tantramar area. Grab a loved one for a 'spin' through the works and let them tickle your memories 'til a story spills out.”
Louise was born and raised in Northern New Brunswick, eventually settling in Sackville where, together with her husband, they raised two sons.
It was only within the last 15 years that Louise began painting; first in the studio with acrylic, but she was missing the outdoors. She had never heard the term "plein air" painting (the French term meaning "open air" and referring to the practice of painting landscapes directly outdoors). So, when she stumbled upon an artist call for a plein air event in Lunenburg, NS she packed waaaaaay too much gear, headed out and sheepishly painted her first plein air. It sold! ...and she was hooked.
Dozens of workshops, demos and hundreds of painting hours later, Louise has won awards at events such as Points East Plein Air, Elora Plein Air and Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival. With those accolades encouraging her and the beauty of the Maritimes calling out to be painted, Louise looks forward to many years of wearing out her boots and brushes.
