Catching the Light - New Pastels by Dean Reeves

Dean Reeves enjoys the fragility and demands of working in chalk pastel.  His plein air paintings capture the light of the day, the mood of the ocean, the colour of the air and the smell of Atlantic Canada.  He has discovered out-of-the-way places that only locals recognize but he presents these paintings in a universal manner and brings to us the essence of the 'place'. 

A transplanted artist from Alberta, Dean embraces the Maritime way of life and is respectful of the simplicities of our region.  His paintings bring to us the special moments of sunlight dancing on the water or birch trees trembling in the breeze.  This exhibition consists of 30 framed chalk pastel paintings created over the past 24 months.
