Isabelle Devos

Isabelle Devos is a contemporary artist known for her bold and evocative landscape paintings that convery a serene yet powerful sense of place and atmosphere.  

Through her paintings, Devos delves into the hidden narratives that emerge from the intersection of human presence and the surrounding landscape, revealing the stories waiting to unfold within these transitional spaces.  

After graduating from Mount Allison University with a BFA in 1991, Devos setted in Sackville NB for many years and began her art practice of painting, photography and conceptual work. She was also an active member and board member of Struts Gallery. 

Since 2004, she has lived in Australia with her family but returns to Canada regularly, maintaining strong connections to the Maritime region.

Over the years her work has garnered awards and grants including the Canada Council for the Arts and New Brunswick Arts Council.  Her work has also been shortlisted for several major Australian art awards, such as the Glover Prize in 2023, Lethbridge Art Prize in 2024 and the Paddington Art Prize in 2022. 

Her paintings can be found in public collections such as the Art Bank of New Brunswick in Canada, NSW State Library in Australia and New England Regional Art Museum in NSW,  Australia as well as gracing the walls of private collections across Canada, Australia and in Europe.
