Claudia Mannion received her early art and design training in Montréal before re-locating to the Maritimes in the ‘70s where she operated her design business for many years.
She later studied painting at Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB where she was awarded the John Asimakos Prize in Painting in her third year. Claudia has exhibited in many group and solo shows in museums and commercial galleries. In 2007 she was included in the prestigious Marion McCain Atlantic Art Exhibition at the Beaverbrook Gallery in Fredericton, NB. (Curator: Tom Lovett)
Her paintings are held in the collections of the Canada Council Art Bank, Nova Scotia Art Bank, Province of PEI Art Bank, The Senvest Collection and many private collectors in Canada and the US.
“I have been using oil-based enamel paints in recent years for their workability and surface lustre. They suit my painting style which is quite loose and intuitive. I may start out with one idea but the direction of the work often morphs into something else. A surprise. You might call my style, if I have one, painterly. I love paint!”
