Anna Syperek

Anna Syperek was born in England in 1950 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. She completed two years of a Fine Arts Degree at York University before moving to Nova Scotia whre she graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1980.

Anna's work is intimate. She explores her community and surrounding rural landscape with respect and reverence. Within her landscapes you discover a neighbourhood or a well-travelled path. From her still life studies you are introduced to the family. Her fine detailed etchings are often subtle in their colour, however occasionally she treats us to a bold, joyful play in yellows and blues. Throughout all of Anna's work there is life. She brings a rich and positive element to her art.

Her paintings and etchings have exhibited throughout the Atlantic region in both private and public galleries. Her works are found in corporate and public collections such as the Canada Council Art Bank and the Nova Scotia Art Bank. She has been awarded the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award.
