A native of Sackville, New Brunswick, Bonnie Folkins studied at Mount Allison University where she took drawing and painting courses under Ted Pulford, David Silverberg, Lawren P. Harris and Christopher Pratt.
Early in her career, in 1967, she won the C.S.E.A. Hallmark Art Scholarship for Atlantic Canada. Her paintings have been featured in many solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Portugal, the United States and in Canada. A selected list of exhibitions would included: Biennale Internazionale Dell’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa,Canada, Northeast Watercolour Society in Kent, Connecticut, and the Torri d’Avvis Tariento Seconda Edizione Festival in Tarquinia, Italy .
Bonnie's work is found in the permanent public collections of McGill University, DuPont Canada, Air Canada, Irving Oil Inc, PolyGram Records of Canada, Macdonald College in Quebec and Havemeyer Hall at Columbia University in New York - to name a few, as well as private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, Portugal, Italy, the United States and Canada.
