“In my painting I like to explore the transformational quality of light and its ability to elevate the mundane to the extraordinary. I am drawn to contrasts of sun and shadow and the play of light on shapes and surfaces. I am fascinated by faces and people, their interaction with others and the environment, and how personality and character are revealed through a pose and body language. My aim is to capture and interpret the essence of a subject through an interplay of pattern, light, colour and shape.”
