“Three things are needed to have a successful gallery: a welcoming space, gifted artists and a passionate, insightful and instinctive owner. This ‘trinity’ is essential if the gallery is to not only be successful, but be and stay relevant. Fog Forest thankfully has all three.”D. Gallant, Montreal QU

Dawn MacNutt graduated from Mount Allison in 1957 with a B.A. (Art and Psychology). She worked as a social worker in Nova Scotia for many years. During this time she found her balance from this stressful job in the art of weaving. Eventually weaving turned into an exploration of life sized human scuptures. Dawn had found her voice.
She was inducted into the RCA (Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts) in 2008 and was honored in 2014 with Doctorate of Laws by Mount Allison University and in 2005 with Doctorate of Humane Letters by Mount St. Vincent University. As well as her exhibition and commission work, she is a member of the International Sculpture Center, Nova Scotia Designer Craftsmen (Master Artisan), and Visual Arts Nova Scotia. She has served as a national director on Canadian Craft Council.
Dawn has led workshops and seminars in Canada and the U.S.A, and has served on local and national juries. Her career has been the subject of many published articles and reviews, and a filmed documentary.
A collection of nine recently created small woven wirecloth sculptures are featured in our current Town and Gown exhibition on display until May 27, 2017
This month Dawn returns to Sackville and Mount Allison to celebrate her 60 year reunion. Welcome back Dawn. Enjoy your weekend.More
